
*PROTOMA: PROTOTYPING MANAGER*

This is a pilot project to be developed in a transnational network, involving the partners below, in the field of Rapid Prototyping.

Its objective is the Realization of formative models for the study of modules suitable for supporting innovative technological solutions in the mechanical field for product planning.

Why?

· The use of new technologies on an evolving market has fostered the development of this project in the mechanical field.

· The main object of this project is to create a new Manager profile, able to shorten planning times through the use of suitable technological abilities.

· After examining the market as regards rapid prototyping, a rising demand for a new profession termed Prototyping Manager is foreseen.

· The school and professional organizations which are involved and address to young people in the introductory stage or to adults in need of professional re-education, must be able to outline and experiment a curriculum valid for the whole European Educational System, and to offer new job opportunities all over Europe.

What for?

The general aim of the project is to realize and experiment models, methods and tools for the creation and acceptance of new professional abilities which have become part of the process of mechanical design, using technologies of rapid multilayer prototyping. This general aim will be reached as the result of the following activities:

· Promoting the dialogue among local authorities, agencies and entities, universities, vocational training systems, in order to select elements who may be functional to the devised aim (in this case restricted to educational process and tools).

· Defining the professional abilities necessary for developing educational models.

· Defining a qualifying educational process (maps of knowledge and maps of competences).

· Arranging the criteria for the realization of a system of control and general acceptance in the educational process.

· Creating a data bank concerning rules, reference entities, existing educational proposals and professional new skills.

· Producing a CD-ROM containing qualifying modules and possible application software in its demo version, together with papers related to the project results.
